Abstract:
- The study explored the influence of Africa's integration into the global economy on underdevelopment, with a specific focus on how globalization has affected different aspects of African society such as culture, natural resources, and economy. Secondary data was exclusively used for analysis in the research, revealing that globalization has played a crucial role in hindering the growth of African economies, particularly due to the inability of African industries to compete with those of more advanced nations. Overexploitation of natural resources driven by the increased demand from developed countries has further exacerbated the challenges faced by African nations. The heightened emissions of greenhouse gases have also contributed to climate change in various parts of Africa, posing potential risks if not addressed promptly. Globalization has also had a notable impact on African culture, leading to the disappearance of languages, changes in clothing styles, and a significant erosion of traditional norms and values. Recommendations include focusing on developing industries, fostering mutually beneficial trade agreements, and promoting regional integration within the African continent, Preserving and promoting cultural heritage, as well as conserving natural environments, are also essential priorities for African nations.
