Abstract:
SHEEHAN syndrome is the result of anterior pituitary necrosis due to severe postpartum hemorrhage it's the leading cause of pan hypopituitarism in developing countries. The physiopathological mechanism of this ischemia is poorly understood, but it is accepted that hypotension in association with vasospasm of the pituitary arteries is at the origin of this rare syndrome. In our patient the symptoms of hypopituitarism were revealed on the third day, by a polyuropolydipsic syndrome as well as an intense asthenia, the hormonal dosages as well as the pituitary MRI confirm the diagnosis, the association with central diabetes insipidus which is the case in our patient's remains very rare, the patient was transferred to the endocrinology department for therapeutic management of her pan-hypopituitarism.
