Abstract:
Rupture of the patellar tendon is a rare injury, it requires acute repair to restore knee extensor continuity, to allow early motion and to avoid knee stiffness, it's most typically seen in male patients the third and fourth decades, it is often due to a chronic tendinopathy the rupture can also be secondary to direct or indirect high-energy trauma of the knee, Diagnosis is often clinical, Classification and surgical planning can be established with radiograph, ultrasonography, or magnetic resonance imaging. multiple techniques for repair have been described in the literature. The aim of this case report is to present a case of rupture of the patellar tendon occurred after injections of corticosteroids. Case Report: A case of a 50-year-old male marathon athlete sustaining a patellar tendon rupture after a series of 2 corticosteroids injections. At surgery, a complete rupture in the distal part of the patellar tendon was found, surgical reparation was performed using anchors, augmentation was done using wire cerclage, The evolution was marked by healing of the tendon with restoration of joint amplitudes
