Abstract:
: Duodenal atresia is among the most common congenital anomalies. Perinatal ultrasound often serves as the initial diagnostic tool for evaluating this condition. The presence of polyhydramnios, combined with the characteristic "double bubble" sign-representing a dilated stomach and proximal duodenum-is considered virtually pathognomonic. This anomaly accounts for nearly half of all neonatal intestinal obstructions and is one of the most frequently observed abnormalities in newborns. Fortunately, it typically responds well to surgical intervention. We report a case of a patient hospitalized for threatened preterm labour at 8 months of pregnancy in whom duodenal atresia was suspected in a twin on ultrasound ad confirmed after delivery.
