Abstract:
This research examines the causes and effects of leadership conflict within the Apostolic Christian Church Mission (ACCM) in Nigeria. The study reveals that leadership conflict is a pervasive issue in the ACCM, fuelled by power struggles, succession crises, external interference, and disagreements over church doctrine. The conflict has significant spiritual, economic, numerical, and psychological effects on the church, hindering its growth and undermining its mission. The research highlights the importance of effective leadership, communication, and conflict resolution in preventing and managing conflicts within the church. It also emphasizes the need for church leaders to prioritize humility, accountability, and transparency in their leadership practices. The study recommends that the government adopt a neutral stance in the conflict, acting as a mediator rather than taking sides. It also suggests that the ACCM's leadership mindset shift from seeking power and control to serving the church and its members. Effective communication, clear decision-making processes, and a commitment to biblical principles of conflict resolution are also essential in resolving the conflict and promoting peace and unity within the church. Overall, this research provides valuable insights into the causes and effects of leadership conflict within the ACCM and offers practical recommendations for preventing and managing conflicts within the church. Its findings have implications for church leaders, policymakers, and scholars interested in understanding the complex dynamics of church conflict and its impact on church growth and development.
