Abstract:
This study empirically investigated the relationship between time management and the performance of water and sanitation projects in Hodan District, Mogadishu, Somalia. A descriptive cross-sectional research design was adopted, and data were collected from 350 participants, including project managers, engineers, and community representatives, using a structured questionnaire. The data was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics, including Pearson correlation and linear regression, with the aid of SPSS Version 26. The findings revealed a statistically significant, positive, and moderate relationship between time management and project performance (r = .524, p = .000). The regression analysis further confirmed that time management accounted for 27.5% of the variance in project performance (Rē = .275), leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis. The study concluded that while time management is a critical and significant predictor of project success, its effectiveness is moderated by the complex, fragile context of Mogadishu. The study recommended that implementing NGOs, donor agencies, and government bodies prioritize capacity building in advanced scheduling tools, institutionalize robust monitoring frameworks, and foster a conducive operational environment to enhance the performance and sustainability of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) projects.
