Abstract:
Renewable energy is pivotal for sustainable development, particularly in developing nations grappling with energy access and environmental challenges. Nigeria, endowed with vast renewable resources like solar, wind, hydropower, and biomass, has made strides toward integrating these into its energy mix but faces significant hurdles, including policy inconsistencies, financial constraints, and infrastructural deficits. This paper comprehensively reviews Nigeria's renewable energy landscape, analyzing its prospects, challenges, and policy frameworks, and draws actionable lessons for Vietnam, a country with comparable developmental and energy challenges. By synthesizing Nigeria's experiences, the study proposes strategies for Vietnam to enhance its renewable energy sector, emphasizing policy coherence, financial incentives, technological localization, and public-private partnerships. The findings highlight the critical role of tailored policies and international collaboration in accelerating renewable energy adoption, contributing to energy security, economic growth, and climate change mitigation.
