Abstract:
This study assessed the effectiveness of a computer literacy training program designed for military students in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. It aimed to (a) ascertain the level of students' computer literacy performance before and after the training; (b) find out if there is a significant difference in the computer literacy performance of students before and after the training; (c) determine the experiences of students during the computer literacy training. Utilizing a mixed-method approach, the study assessed participants' knowledge acquisition, skill development, and experiences during the training. A 30-item pretest and post-test measured their proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Canva, while qualitative data from interviews provided insights into their experiences. Results revealed a significant improvement in computer literacy, with students progressing from low to moderate or average proficiency levels after the training. Statistical analysis confirmed a significant difference between pretest and post-test scores, underscoring the program's effectiveness. The thematic analysis highlighted three key benefits: (1) the training enhanced knowledge acquisition by reinforcing prior learning and introducing new digital skills, (2) it developed essential technological competencies crucial for administrative and operational tasks, and (3) it promoted a positive attitude toward digital learning, with participants expressing gratitude and a desire for continued training. Overall, the study affirms the value of structured digital literacy training in equipping military personnel with essential skills for professional growth. These findings support the need for continuous digital education initiatives to enhance efficiency and adaptability in military operations and the workplace in general.
