Abstract:
This investigation explored the relationship between competitive intelligence and the performance metrics of food and beverage companies in Rivers State, Nigeria. A cross-sectional survey method was utilised, engaging a total of 198 employees from twenty (20) food and beverage companies across the state. A total of 132 managers and supervisors were selected randomly using the simple random selection method. We utilised carefully designed questionnaires to collect data and applied Spearman's Rank Order Correlation for the analysis. The findings demonstrated a strong correlation between market intelligence and technology intelligence, both of which are integral to competitive intelligence, and various corporate performance metrics such as customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. Research indicates that enhanced competitive intelligence, derived from effective market and technical insights, significantly contributes to the ability of food and beverage companies to maintain customer satisfaction and operate their businesses more efficiently. The report emphasised the necessity for leaders in the food and drink sector to recognise the significance of competitive intelligence for their enterprises. It urged them to invest in this area to enhance customer relationships and improve operational efficiency.
