Abstract:
This research looks at the link between corporate incentive systems and employee work behavior in select motor transport firms in Rivers State, Nigeria. The research is based on the concept that reward systems that include both financial and non-financial incentives are essential for motivating workers and promoting healthy work habits. Despite growing recognition of reward systems as a strategic tool for improving employee engagement and organizational performance, many Nigerian transportation companies continue to struggle with designing and implementing effective reward strategies that are aligned with employee expectations and organizational goals. Using distributive justice and incentives as reward system characteristics, and employee engagement as a major indication of work behavior, the research seeks to determine how fair reward distribution and incentive provision affect employee commitment, motivation, and overall workplace behavior. The study takes a quantitative approach using a survey design and uses the Spearman Rank Order Correlation to assess the correlations between variables. The study's findings gives empirical insights for transportation corporations into how structured compensation systems might boost employee engagement, eliminate counterproductive behaviors, and increase worker efficiency.
