Abstract:
This study investigates the employment status of Bukidnon State University Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) graduates during the academic year 2018-2019. It aims to determine the personal characteristics of BEEd graduates and assess their employment attributes, focusing on the types of work opportunities pursued and their employment status. Additionally, the study evaluates the relevance of the BEEd Curriculum to their employment. Data was collected using a modified questionnaire from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), employing a descriptive survey method with 151 BEEd graduates as participants. Results indicate that a majority of BEEd graduates were employed as teachers in government or private institutions at the time of the study, demonstrating alignment with their chosen profession and professional training. The study concludes that their current jobs are relevant to their degree. Other employment roles include office workers (11.90%) and, in smaller percentages, LGU workers, self-employed individuals, DepEd ALS staff, private workers, and call center staff. However, a notable number of graduates could not be tracked due to reasons such as inaccessibility and unresponsiveness to the tracer study. Recommendations include the implementation of innovative activities by the Guidance Service office, such as virtual career discovery fora, job fairs, and alumni-involved career sessions, to enhance students' readiness and engagement in targeted job markets and employment opportunities.
