Abstract:
Polypropylene (PP) fiber extrusion is a fundamental process in polymer manufacturing industries, where final fiber quality depends strongly on the design of extrusion parameters such as screw geometry, draw ratio, swelling ratio, and melt flow. In many developing industries, the extrusion process is still designed empirically, which leads to energy inefficiency, material waste, and inconsistent product performance. This research presents a C#-based analytical and computational model for simulating PP fiber extrusion. The model integrates theoretical equations for screw geometry, swelling ratio, draw ratio, and drawing force, providing rapid predictive results. The developed system was validated against analytical calculations, yielding deviations below 2%. A review of sixteen major studies established the theoretical foundation, while the model itself serves as a digital engineering tool for design optimization, analysis, and training. The results confirm strong consistency with previously published models and highlight the effectiveness of computational approaches in industrial process simulation.
