Abstract:
The article employs a qualitative, integrative, and case-study-based approach focusing on the analysis and comparison of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) framework implementation across advanced economies-including the European Union, Canada, Japan, Singapore, and South Africa-to derive in-depth policy implications for Vietnam's green transition toward 2030. The study identifies four critical factors driving ESG adoption: robust mandatory disclosure systems, national green taxonomies, market-based incentives, and effective data governance frameworks. Vietnam's ESG trajectory from 2019 to 2025 is examined through macroeconomic indicators, corporate sustainability reporting data, and the development of green financial instruments. The findings indicate measurable progress in policy alignment and green credit expansion; however, ESG integration in Vietnam remains fragmented, constrained by limited data availability, low SME participation, and weak assurance mechanisms. Accordingly, the research proposes a four-phase roadmap (2025-2035) for Vietnam, structured around four strategic policy pillars: (1) enhancing and institutionalizing the national ESG legal framework; (2) broadening ESG disclosure, enforcement, and financialization mechanisms; (3) promoting convergence with global ESG standards; and (4) strengthening innovation capacity and green transformation ecosystems.
