Abstract:
This study explored the experiences of young adults working in the tourism and hospitality industry, focusing on the interplay between stress, resilience, and mental health. Using a qualitative research design, data were collected through interviews, participant observations, and document analysis to capture personal insights and workplace realities. Thematic analysis revealed three major themes: (1) Operational Strain and Customer-Driven Pressure, highlighting the fast-paced and demanding nature of hospitality work; (2) Individualized Coping in the Absence of Strong Formal Supports, showing how employees rely on personal routines and peer support to manage stress; and (3) Structural Gaps and the Call for Mental-Health-Conscious Work Design, emphasizing the need for organizational wellness programs and fair scheduling practices. Findings indicate that while individual coping strategies sustain short-term resilience, systemic interventions are essential for long-term well-being. The study concludes that fostering a supportive, psychologically safe, and wellness-oriented workplace can enhance employee satisfaction, retention, and service quality within the tourism and hospitality sector.
