Abstract:
This study examines fingerprint pattern distributions among multiple births in the Niger Delta Region, focusing on loops, whorls, and arches as key dermatoglyphic variables. Using a dataset of twin samples, the research investigates intra-pair similarities, inter-pair variability, and the potential influence of genetic and prenatal environmental factors on fingerprint development. Statistical analyses-including descriptive metrics, correlation tests, and advanced inferential procedures-revealed dominant loop patterns, moderate twin correlations, and measurable variations between twin pairs. The findings enhance understanding of dermatoglyphic inheritance patterns in multiple births and provide region-specific data relevant to forensic identification, anthropological studies, and biomedical research.
