Abstract:
In the industrial world, manually transferring production output from one machine to another takes a considerable amount of time and often results in downtime, which hinders the production process and can affect time efficiency in production. With optimal production efficiency, machine productivity can be enhanced. Many product transfer processes use conveyors, which require systems to be monitored and assisted by operators and often result in product damage due to products falling off the conveyor. Safe and quick product transfer is a significant consideration when moving products between machines. The Automatic Transfer Machine (ATM) is introduced as an alternative to conveyors for connecting existing machines to other existing machines safely, as it operates by gripping the product and transferring it with an arm. The ATM is designed using pneumatic cylinders to drive the arm and is controlled by a Keyence KV-NC32T PLC. The operational ATM is capable of transferring products quickly, minimizing product damage during the transfer process, and reducing manpower requirements.
