Abstract:
This study determined the level of professional engagement of primary grade teachers in terms of accountability, adherence to professional ethics, and interaction with stakeholders. It sought to assess how teachers uphold professional standards, maintain ethical practices, and foster school-community linkages, thereby contributing to learner success and institutional development. A descriptive research design was employed to describe the levels of professional engagement and community linkages among primary grade teachers and to examine the relationship between these variables. The quantitative component utilized a validated structured survey questionnaire measuring accountability, ethical adherence, stakeholder interaction, utilization of community resources, and collaboration. Cluster sampling was applied, selecting accessible elementary schools along or near the highway in the Southeast Butuan District. All primary grade teachers in the identified clusters were included as respondents. Data collection involved securing permissions, distributing questionnaires during faculty meetings, encoding responses, and applying statistical analysis. The weighted mean was used to interpret the levels of professional engagement and community linkages. Findings revealed that teachers demonstrated very high levels of professional engagement across all three dimensions. In terms of accountability, teachers consistently upheld professional standards, with the highest indicator being the completion of assigned tasks and reports with minimal supervision (weighted mean = 5.00). Regarding professional ethics, teachers exhibited exceptional integrity and fairness, with treating all learners respectfully rated highest (weighted mean = 4.98). For stakeholder interaction, teachers maintained strong communication and collaboration, particularly through regular updates to parents on learner progress (weighted mean = 4.83). Overall, the findings indicate that teachers embody high levels of professionalism, ethical conduct, and active community involvement. Their strong engagement contributes to improved teaching practices, better learner support, and strengthened school-community partnerships.
