Abstract:
The study examined of electronic monitoring on employee performance of selected Fintech firms in Delta State. The specific objectives of the study were to; determine the impact of Software monitoring, video surveillance and Biometric technology on employee performance of selected Fintech Firms in Delta State. A cross sectional survey research design was adopted. A self structured instrument developed by the researcher to reflect such options as strongly agree, agree, undecided, disagree and strongly disagree popularly refereed as five (5) points Likert scale was used to obtain information from the respondents. The population of the study comprised of 200 staff selected from different location of Fintech firms in Delta State. 183 copies of questionnaire was duly completed and returned showing 94.68% response rate. Research hypotheses were tested using ANOVA method which was carried out with the aid of statistical package for social science (SPSS) version 25.0. Findings from the study revealed that, Software monitoring, video surveillance and Biometric technology have significant effect on employee performance of selected Fintech firms in Delta State. In view of the findings, the study recommended that management of firms cannot just take an arbitrary decision without consulting the employees as this would have negative consequences. Among the reasons cited by employees as to why care should be taken when using electronic monitoring are: it limits access to vital work related information, it leads to lack of trust, it is intimidating, can lead to micromanagement of employees, it can cause anxiety, tension and stress and that it interferes with proper flow of information.
