Abstract:
In the context of Northern Vietnam, where household businesses play a critical role in local economies yet often face resource constraints and limited digital literacy, understanding the role of artificial intelligence is essential. This study investigates the role of AI in enhancing productivity among household businesses in Northern Vietnam, focusing on AI awareness, attitude, usage level, and specific financial applications. Data were collected from 311 household farmers using structured questionnaires and structural equation modeling via SmartPLS 3 was employed to examine both direct and moderated effects of AI adoption on business performance, with AI adoption capability as a key moderating factor. The findings reveal that the level of AI usage and AI application in cash flow monitoring significantly enhance household business productivity, whereas AI awareness and AI-based financial planning exhibit negative effects during early adoption stages. AI attitude alone does not exert a significant influence, highlighting the importance of practical engagement over perception or awareness. Moreover, AI Adoption Capability amplifies the impact of positive attitudes while tempering immediate productivity gains from practical AI applications, reflecting an adoption adjustment period. The study contributes theoretically by extending AI adoption models to micro-level enterprises and provides practical insights for structured training, guided implementation, and incremental AI adoption strategies.
