Abstract:
This study investigated the effects of resource allocation on the performance of construction projects at Daryeel Construction Company in Hargeisa, Somaliland. A convergent mixed-methods design was employed, collecting quantitative data via questionnaires from 120 employees (92.7% response rate) and qualitative insights through 12 in-depth interviews. The quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and simple linear regression. The findings revealed a statistically significant, positive, and moderately strong relationship between resource allocation and project performance (r = 0.578, p < 0.01). The regression analysis confirmed that resource allocation accounted for 33.4% (Rē = 0.334) of the variance in project performance. While the company was perceived to possess valuable resources (Mean scores between 3.83 and 4.05), significant challenges in resource orchestration-such as labor shortages, material delivery delays, and ineffective financial management-were identified as primary constraints. The study rejected the null hypothesis, concluding that effective resource allocation is a critical determinant of project success. Grounded in the Resource-Based View, the research recommended that the company enhance its dynamic resource orchestration capabilities. This study contributes to knowledge by empirically validating the RBV in Somaliland's construction sector and highlighting the critical distinction between resource possession and resource deployment.
