Abstract:
Abstract: This article discusses the integration of social and environmental values in Social Studies (IPS) learning through the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach. The aim is to examine how contextual learning can shape students' social and environmental awareness in an integrated manner. By reviewing constructivist learning theory (Piaget), sociocultural theory (Vygotsky), and modern cognitive perspectives (Schunk, 2014), this article asserts that meaningful learning occurs when students relate academic concepts to real-world social and ecological experiences. A literature review shows that social studies learning based on real-world activities such as waste management or community social projects-encourages reflective behavior, social responsibility, and ecological awareness. The integration of social and environmental values through contextual learning makes social studies a vehicle for character building and sustainable development.
