Abstract:
India's EV transition promises innovation but exposes structural risks for start-ups. This case study examines Tork Motors-an early entrant in the premium electric motorcycle market (Kratos R)-whose operations faltered despite positive product reviews. A weighted sentiment analysis of consumer reviews, owner forums/YouTube posts, and industry reports (N = 8 for news/dealer actions; weights: 0.40, 0.30, 0.30) yields a slightly negative composite (-0.146 on a -1 to +1 scale). Negative sentiment is driven by dispatch halts, parts unavailability, service delays, dealer disputes, and investor write-offs. We analyze internal decisions, external market pressures, and ecosystem implications, and conclude with recommendations for entrepreneurs, policymakers, and investors. The case highlights structural risks in capital-intensive EV ventures and strategies to strengthen resilience in India's emerging mobility market.
