Abstract:
This study explores the impact of Information Technology (IT) on accounting practices in Iringa Municipal, focusing on the level of IT adoption, key technologies driving change-such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and automation-challenges hindering integration, and the overall impact on efficiency, accuracy, and transparency. Using a mixed-methods approach, data was collected from 150 respondents, including accountants, business owners, and financial managers, through surveys and interviews. Findings reveal that while IT adoption is growing, challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, skill gaps, and resistance to change limit its full potential. However, IT has significantly improved financial reporting accuracy, automated repetitive tasks, and enhanced decision-making. The study recommends increased investment in digital infrastructure, targeted training programs, and policy support to promote IT-driven accounting transformation and support sustainable economic growth in Iringa Municipal.
