Abstract:
The study investigated the intra-party crisis in All Progressive Congress: A study of Edo State 2020 Gubernatorial election. It is instructive to note that Nigeria has been enmeshed in intra-party crisis of different shapes, sizes and dimensions and these crises have had daunting effect on the electoral performance of the party in crisis within itself. In essence, crisis within any political party tends to affect its triumph at the poll. The study adopted triangulation mixed method research design of (QUAN+qual type) while Multistage sampling technique was adopted for the study to select only APC members in Edo state also, disproportionate Stratified random sampling technique was used to select 400 APC members in some selected local government in Edo state. The findings of this study revealed the following as the major factors that precipitated Intra- Party Crisis in the Edo State ; lack of internal democracy, dissatisfaction outcome of primaries among others .Therefore, it is recommended that party or parties should obey the rules and regulations guiding the party as contained in the party constitution while The funding of the party should be done by all duly registered party members and as such, should not be the exclusive right of some members.
