Abstract:
Majority of the ATMs in India are managed by banks and these are known as Brown Label ATMs (BL ATMs). However, there is a fairly new category of ATMs that are not patented or managed by banks. These are known as White Label ATMs (WL ATMs) which are set up, owned, and operated by non-banks under the guidelines and approval of the RBI. In this context, we have purposely selected India1 Payments Limited since it has the maximum number of WL ATMs operating in India. The prime objective of the study is to inspect whether WL ATMs lead to the transformation of digital financial inclusion by analyzing the financial assessment of the selected company from the period 2013-2014 to 2022-2023. The fact finding observations indicates that WL ATM services have increased in India. Moreover, India 1 Payments Limited has performed well during the study period. Increase in the number of WL ATMs and gross collection in service charges by India 1 Payments Limited indicates higher volume of digital transactions, thereby enhancing digital financial inclusion in rural areas.
