Abstract:
This study examined the leadership styles and worker's service delivery in Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic Unwana, Ebonyi State Nigeria. The specific objectives of the study were to: determine the relationship between democratic leadership style and workers' service delivery in Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana, ascertain the relationship between autocratic leadership style and workers' service delivery in Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana, and to determine the relationship between laissez-faire leadership style and workers' service delivery in Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana. The study adopted the survey research design, the population of the study was 1889. The Taro Yamene Formula was used to establish the sample size, which was 331 respondents or participants. The study employed mean score in data analysis while Pearson's Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to test the hypotheses. The findings showed that democratic leadership Style has a positive and significant relationship with workers' service delivery, autocratic and laissez-faire leadership styles have negative correlation with workers' service delivery. The study recommends that democratic leadership style should be encourage at Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana, as the study revealed a positive and significant relationship between this approach and workers' service delivery, autocratic leadership style should only be used in urgent situations and after thorough deliberation, and laissez-faire leadership style should be adopted when employees have a clear understanding of their duties and possess strong analytical skills.
