Abstract:
The issue of promoting economic growth in rural areas has always been at the heart of economic and social policies in developing countries. Social entrepreneurship has emerged as a promising modern approach to promote disadvantaged producers in rural areas enterprises to change their production and business methods, serving to enhance the value of the entire community, thereby indirectly contributing to increasing income and growth in revenue for production households. The objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between social entrepreneurship and income growth of underprivileged production households in rural areas of Vietnam. Based on the Positive Theory of Social Entrepreneurship, the authors conducted a survey of 215 households in rural areas in the three regions of the North, Central and South of Vietnam. The results emphasize the positive impact of social entrepreneurship, along with the control variables as educational level of household head, tenure of producers, and region of producers on income growth. From there, some policy and managerial implications are highlighted such as setting up region-specific policies to encourage the development of social entrepreneurship models, strengthening education and training programs and financial and credit support for rural producers. In addition, investing in training and skills development and improving supply chain management and more flexible market connections should also be considered.
