Abstract:
This review paper explores the impact of sustainable procurement practices on urban resilience, focusing on how procurement decisions influence infrastructure durability, adaptability, and sustainability. Sustainable procurement practices are shown to significantly reduce maintenance costs, lower environmental impacts, and promote social equity, thereby strengthening the overall resilience of urban communities. The paper also provides policy recommendations for integrating sustainable procurement into urban planning, emphasizing the need for government incentives, capacity-building initiatives, and improved data metrics. Despite the clear benefits, challenges such as higher upfront costs and the need for standardized sustainability assessments remain. The paper concludes with suggestions for future research to address these challenges and further explore the social impacts of sustainable procurement.
