Abstract:
The transition to renewable energy is a global imperative for combating climate change and achieving sustainable development. However, the success of large-scale renewable energy projects hinges on public acceptance and active engagement, particularly in diverse communities with varying socio-economic, cultural, and psychological contexts. This paper explores the critical factors influencing public attitudes toward renewable energy projects, including socio-demographic variables, behavioral barriers, and the legacy of past infrastructure experiences. It proposes strategic communication frameworks emphasizing tailored messaging, visual storytelling, transparency, and digital engagement to bridge communication gaps and counter misinformation. Additionally, the paper highlights the importance of stakeholder collaboration and inclusive practices, such as participatory planning, partnerships with local leaders, and robust feedback mechanisms. Recommendations are provided for policymakers, developers, and communicators to foster trust, address community concerns, and ensure equitable benefits. By adopting these strategies, stakeholders can enhance public acceptance and contribute to a smoother and more inclusive transition to sustainable energy systems.
