Abstract:
: The aneurysmal bone cyst is a rare, benign lesion located mainly on the metaphysis of the long bones and occurs almost exclusively in young subjects. The diagnosis is guided by clinical and radiological arguments with histological confirmation. The therapeutic modalities are variable with generally satisfactory results. We report the case of two teenagers with a review of the literature. These are two patients aged 16 and 17 years respectively, treated for an aneurysmal bone cyst of the upper end of the tibia and the first metatarsal respectively. The symptoms and signs progressed over several months marked by moderate pain and swelling. The diagnostic approach consisted of a standard X-ray sometimes supplemented by a local MRI and histological confirmation after surgical biopsy. The cure consisted of a curettage-graft in the first patient and a resection-reconstruction in the second. The evolution was good without recurrence. The aneurysmal bone cyst is a rare benign tumor. The diagnostic approach is well codified. Adequate management offers generally satisfactory results.
