Abstract:
Balancing environmental sustainability and economic viability in oil and gas exploration presents a critical challenge in today's energy landscape. The pursuit of fossil fuels inherently intersects with environmental concerns, including habitat disruption, greenhouse gas emissions, and water contamination. However, the economic imperative of energy production often drives companies to prioritize profit over environmental stewardship. This review explores the multifaceted challenges and opportunities associated with achieving equilibrium between these two objectives. On one hand, environmental sustainability demands the adoption of renewable energy sources, advanced drilling technologies, and stringent waste management practices to mitigate the adverse impacts of exploration and production activities. On the other hand, economic viability necessitates cost-effective approaches, considering the fluctuating market demands and regulatory landscapes. Successfully navigating this balance requires strategic investments in innovation, long-term financial planning, and collaboration with stakeholders.
