Abstract:
This paper examines the socio-economic impacts of the Indigenous People of Biafra's (IPOB) sit-at-home order on Anambra State between 2021 and 2024. The sit-at-home directive, initially instituted to protest the detention of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, quickly evolved into a recurring disruption. This study is anchored on the Conflict Theory as propounded by Karl Marx and developed further by contemporary sociologists. Also, the study adopts a qualitative research design, specifically using content analysis to investigate the socio-economic impacts of IPOB's sit-at-home order in Anambra State from 2021 to 2024. Finding reveal that IPOB's sit-at-home order has a significant impact on economic activities in Anambra State from 2021 to 2024. Based on the finding, the paper recommended that: The Anambra State Government should create a business continuity and resilience fund to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) affected by the sit-at-home order.
