Abstract:
The study examined the effects of equitability in the implementation of Uganda Women Entrepreneurship on women economic empowerment in Kisoro and Kabale districts. The study adopted pragmatism philosophy and a cross sectional survey research design. The study used a sample size of 343 respondents determined using Sloven formula and 255 respondents responded to questionnaires and 37 responded to interviews. Simple random and purposive sampling techniques were used to select respondents. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics for quantitative data with the help of Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 22 and thematic analysis for qualitative data. The study findings revealed that equitability in implementation of Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Programme (UWEP) has significant positive effects on women economic empowerment. The study concluded that equitability in the programme implementation had significant positive effects on women economic empowerment. The study recommends that in order to enhance equal access to financial services through the Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Programme (UWEP), the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development need establish partnerships with local financial institutions such as SACCOs, Village Savings and Loan Associations and banks to create tailored financial products for all women beneficiaries of the programme. This should include developing low-interest loans, flexible repayment options and financial literacy programs that empower women to manage their finances effectively. The local authorities in charge of implementing UWEP programme in the districts should prioritize equal opportunities for all participants, regardless of background or physical characteristics and foster a sense of fairness and inclusivity within the programme.
