Abstract:
The Aetas, one of the earliest indigenous groups in the Philippines, face economic challenges despite their rich cultural heritage and reliance on natural resources. This study examines the relationship between socioeconomic factors age, sex, educational attainment, income, and employment status and the financial capabilities of the Aeta community in Mabalacat City. Employing a descriptive-correlational design, data from barangays Calumpang, Macapagal Village, and Marcos Village were analyzed using frequency distribution, weighted mean, and the Chi-square test for independence. The results revealed significant influences of age, education, income, and employment on financial behavior, attitudes, literacy, and skills. Although the community displayed strong financial attitudes and basic arithmetic skills, gaps were identified in saving habits, expense tracking, and familiarity with formal financial systems. The findings underscore the need for targeted financial education programs, vocational training, and tailored job opportunities to enhance the financial literacy and overall socioeconomic development of the Aeta community.
