Abstract:
In this study, the state of perennial forest lands in the Kuva district of Fergana region was determined using remote sensing (RS) technologies and geographic information systems (GIS) and their electronic maps were developed. The main goal of the study was to identify, classify and display forest areas in the form of digitized maps based on satellite images. During the analysis, the NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) index was calculated based on high-resolution space images obtained from free open sources such as Landsat TM, ETM+ and Landsat 8. Visual and automatic classification approaches were compared and the advantages of each method were analyzed. Although visual interpretation provides more accurate results, it was found that automatic classification allows for a quick assessment of large areas. During the study, the area of ??perennial forest lands in the Kuva district, their density and distribution were determined, and thematic maps at a scale of 1:50,000 were developed. Based on these maps, a scientific basis for environmental monitoring, agricultural planning, and land resource management in the region was developed. The research results have practical significance in improving monitoring of perennial tree plantations, monitoring agroecological conditions, and creating a database based on GIS.
