Abstract:
Chronic periodontitis is a complex and prevalent inflammatory disease that compromises the supporting structures of teeth, often leading to progressive tissue degradation and tooth loss if left untreated. Traditional root canal therapy may not sufficiently eradicate infection in advanced cases, necessitating apical resection to remove infected tissue and preserve tooth integrity. This study evaluates the effectiveness of apical resection as a complementary treatment to conventional root canal therapy. By examining clinical outcomes, healing rates, and procedural advancements, this article underscores the role of apical resection in managing chronic periodontitis.
