Abstract:
The study investigated the effect of collaboration on project performance in Pun-Land, Somalia. This study investigated the effect of collaboration on project performance, focusing on the Garowe General Hospital Expansion Project in Puntland, Somalia. The research aimed to examine how various dimensions of collaboration namely; communication, trust, shared goals, and mutual respect impacted the successful implementation and outcomes of development projects in the region. A descriptive research design was employed, using both qualitative and quantitative data collected through structured questionnaires and semi-structured interviews with project stakeholders. The target population consisted of 149 individuals involved in the project, including team members, managers, and government officials. From this population, a sample size of 109 respondents was selected using Simple random sampling, but out of these respondents, only 100 filled and returned the copies of the questionnaire and also, the purposive sampling technique was used to select the key informants. The data were analyzed using statistical and thematic methods to establish the relationship between collaboration and project performance. The findings revealed that effective collaboration significantly enhanced project efficiency, stakeholder satisfaction, and goal attainment. However, the study also highlighted challenges such as limited institutional support and cultural barriers that impeded collaborative efforts. Based on the results, the study recommended fostering a collaborative project environment through capacity building, clear communication channels, and inclusive decision-making. These insights contributed to the broader understanding of project management practices in developing contexts and offered practical implications for enhancing the performance of future projects in Puntland and similar settings.
