Abstract:
This study investigates the influence of parental involvement on the holistic development of college students, focusing on academic performance, social skills, and personal well-being. Using a quantitative correlational design, the research surveyed 217 students from the School of Arts and Sciences at J.H. Cerilles State College in the Philippines. The study examined four dimensions of parental support: financial, emotional, spiritual, and moral. Findings reveal that financial support significantly correlates with academic performance, while moral and spiritual support are more strongly linked to students' social and personal development. Emotional support plays a moderate role across all areas, particularly academic achievement. Despite moral involvement being the most prevalent form of parental support, financial assistance had the greatest impact on academic outcomes. These results underscore the multidimensional role of parents in shaping the holistic growth of students and emphasize the need for integrated strategies in educational and familial support systems. The study contributes to existing literature by highlighting the continued importance of parental influence in higher education, especially in the context of Filipino cultural and economic realities.
