Abstract:
Orthodontic treatment has become an essential part of modern dentistry for correcting malocclusions and improving facial aesthetics. However, the application of fixed appliances complicates routine oral hygiene, increasing the risk of plaque accumulation, gingival inflammation, and enamel demineralization. This study aims to design and evaluate individualized oral hygiene measures tailored to the specific needs of orthodontic patients. A total of 60 patients were enrolled and divided into two groups: a control group receiving standard hygiene advice and an experimental group provided with customized hygiene instructions and tools. The effectiveness of these measures was assessed using clinical indices such as the Plaque Index and Gingival Index over a 12-week period. Results showed that the experimental group exhibited significantly better oral hygiene outcomes compared to the control group. The findings underscore the importance of patient-specific hygiene protocols in orthodontic practice.
