Abstract:
Financial management is essential to enable school leaders to make informed decisions regarding budget allocation and ensure the efficient use of resources, directly impacting educational outcomes and school operations. This systematic literature review (SLR) examines the challenges school heads encounter in managing financial resources and proposes strategies to address these issues. Guided by PRISMA protocols, the review reveals three primary challenges: (1) scarcity and delays in fund disbursement, (2) insufficient financial management skills among school leaders, and (3) improper budget utilization. To mitigate these challenges, the collected literature recommends enhancing financial stewardship through targeted training programs, fostering stakeholder partnerships for resource mobilization, and implementing robust monitoring systems to ensure accountability and transparency. Addressing these challenges strengthens school operations, improves educational outcomes, and promotes sustainable development in academic institutions.
