Abstract:
This study investigates the effect of using documentary video media on the learning outcomes of Grade XI students in the history subject at SMAN 5 Jember. The research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design, specifically the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Thirty-three students participated as the sample, selected through simple random sampling. The research instrument consisted of 9 multiple-choice questions used in both pre-test and post-test. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 25, including tests for validity, reliability, normality, and hypothesis testing using the Paired Sample t-Test. The findings revealed a significant increase in students' average scores from 30.48 (pre-test) to 38.09 (post-test), with a t-value of -6.034 and a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). This indicates that the use of documentary video media has a positive and statistically significant impact on students' comprehension and retention of historical content. The study concludes that integrating visual-auditory media enhances student engagement and supports more effective learning in history education.
