Abstract:
The Bali Bombing II incident that occurred on October 1, 2005 had a major impact on the image and stability of Indonesian tourism, especially in Bali. The bomb explosion that killed dozens of people and injured hundreds more caused a drop in the number of foreign tourists and a decline in international confidence in Indonesia's security. As a major tourist destination, Bali experienced significant economic pressure. The government of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono responded to this incident with strategic policies aimed at restoring Balinese tourism. The purpose of this study is to analyze the political and economic policies implemented by the Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono government, as well as the implementation steps taken in restoring Balinese tourism after the Bali Bombing II in 2005-2009. This study uses a historical research method that includes four stages: heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The results of the study show that political policies were implemented through the issuance of Presidential Instruction No. 16 of 2005 which became the basis for implementing accelerated recovery. In addition, the government also ratified Law No. 10 of 2009 concerning Tourism and strengthened international cooperation such as the ASEAN Tourism Agreement. These political policies have gradually succeeded in restoring tourist confidence and strengthening the national tourism structure in facing global challenges.
