Abstract:
The moral crisis that has hit the world of Indonesian education is marked by increasing cases of violence, intolerance, and ethical violations. This shows that the education system has not succeeded in carrying out its function as a shaper of national character. This article aims to examine Ir. Soekarno's thoughts on the Mental Revolution as an ideological foundation in overcoming the moral crisis in schools, and integrate it with the contemporary character education approach developed by Thomas Lickona. Through a qualitative approach with historical research methods, this article traces the historical relevance of the Mental Revolution and its potential application in the current education system. The results of the study show that the Mental Revolution is able to become a strategic foundation for the revitalization of character education rooted in the values ??of integrity, mutual cooperation, and social responsibility. This revitalization requires a comprehensive transformation of the curriculum, school culture, teacher training, and evaluation paradigms, so that schools are not just places for transmitting knowledge, but spaces for the formation of whole Indonesian people who are moral, free-spirited, and have a national perspective.
