Abstract:
This study explores the recent achievements and clinical priorities in the medicamentous treatment of oral mucosal diseases. Oral mucosa, as a crucial protective barrier, is susceptible to a range of disorders including inflammatory, infectious, autoimmune, and neoplastic conditions. Pharmacological interventions remain the mainstay of therapy, with corticosteroids, antifungals, antivirals, immunosuppressants, and biologics playing key roles. The paper provides an in-depth review of contemporary treatment strategies, including recent advances in drug delivery systems such as mucoadhesive films and nanoparticles. A clinical analysis of 60 patients treated with different pharmacologic regimens is also presented, demonstrating significant efficacy, particularly when personalized and combination therapies are employed. Findings suggest that topical corticosteroids and systemic antifungals are highly effective for common mucosal lesions, while complex autoimmune conditions respond better to immunomodulatory agents. Discussion emphasizes the importance of patient compliance, early diagnosis, and access to modern therapeutics, especially in resource-limited settings. The study concludes that ongoing innovation in personalized medicine and targeted therapies holds great promise for improving long-term outcomes in oral mucosal disease management.
