Abstract:
Academic supervision is a series of activities to help teachers develop their abilities in managing the learning process. The implementation of good academic supervision will be able to raise teacher work motivation well and ultimately will affect the improvement of teacher work quality. Therefore, the principal is expected to be able to carry out this academic supervision well so that the quality of education in his school is good. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a relationship between the principal's academic supervision and the work motivation and performance of teachers in Elementary Schools. To achieve the research objectives, a correlational research design was applied. The sample of this study was taken using Quota Random Sampling from the Population of Public Elementary School teachers in Durenan District in Trenggalek Regency, East Java, Indonesia. Data collection was carried out through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation methods. After the data was completely collected, the data was then analyzed using product moment correlation data analysis techniques and coefficient of determination analysis. However, before the data was analyzed first, the research data was tested for normality and linearity. The results of the study showed that there is a relationship between the principal's academic supervision and teacher work motivation. The correlation test yielded a coefficient of 0.718, which is greater than the t-table value of 0.380 (0.718 > 0.380). Furthermore, this study also indicates a relationship between principal academic supervision and teacher performance. The correlation data analysis yielded a correlation coefficient of 0.433, which is greater than the 0.05 significance level (0.380) (0.433 > 0.380). The conclusion is that there is a positive and significant relationship between principal academic supervision and teacher work motivation and performance at public elementary schools in Durenan District, Trenggalek Regency.
