Abstract:
An antrochoanal polyp or Killian's polyp is a benign unilateral neoplasm that usually originates in the maxillary sinus and spreads to the choanae, the cavum, and sometimes the oropharynx. It is often diagnosed clinically based on suggestive symptoms and a polypoid mass in the middle meatus on endoscopy , but sometimes it can be nonspecific or even atypical. High-resolution nasosinus CT is increasingly recommended as an essential examination for both lesion assessment and preoperative evaluation. Treatment is exclusively surgical, based on complete excision of the polyp and its base of implantation, most often by endoscopic approach. Recurrence is the main concern with this pathology. We report the case of a 56-year-old woman suffering from a huge antrochoanal polyp who consulted for suffocation, a sensation of a foreign body in the pharynx associated with progressive dysphagia without nasal obstruction. She underwent endoscopic surgery with extraction of her polyp via the endobuccal route. The purpose of this article is to show a rare and unusual presentation of Killian's polyp.
