Abstract:
Agripreneurship has been recognized as a viable pathway to job creation, food security, and rural development in Nigeria. The main objective of this research was to examine the effect of entrepreneurial orientation on performance of poultry farmers in Plateau State, Nigeria. A cross-sectional research design and quantitative research method was adopted. The population comprised of 22,342 poultry farmers in Plateau State, Nigeria. A sample size of 393 was determined using Taro Yamane statistical sample formula and 393 questionnaires were administered and 381 respondents filled the questionnaire representing 97%response rate. Structured questionnaire were adapted for the data collection. Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling was adopted as technique for data analysis. Entrepreneurial orientation had a positive but insignificant relationship with Success of agripreeneurs. Learning experience had a positive and significant effect on Success of agripreneurs. Government agencies and agribusiness incubators should establish innovation labs and business simulation centers. These platforms will allow agripreneurs to experiment with market-driven ideas, test new farming techniques, and practice decision-making in controlled environments, fostering confidence and practical entrepreneurial skills. Stakeholders should implement structured and continuous learning initiatives. This includes deploying mobile-based agricultural training apps, strengthening extension services with updated content, and organizing monthly workshops or learning circles where agripreneurs can learn best practices in production, processing, and marketing.
