Abstract:
Dental and gum diseases are highly prevalent, ranging from minor issues like tooth decay to severe conditions such as periodontal disease and tooth loss, with poor oral health potentially impacting overall wellbeing, eating, speech, and self-confidence. This study explores the application of rule-based expert systems like CLIPS in dental diagnostics, simulating dentists' decision-making processes through structured questionnaires to identify specific conditions including tooth fractures, cavities, infections, and temporomandibular joint disorders. Evaluating the system's accuracy, usability, and efficiency compared to traditional methods, our findings demonstrate that expert systems significantly enhance early diagnosis and patient guidance, reducing unnecessary visits while improving oral health awareness.
