Abstract:
This study assesses the impact of flooding on tourism development in Bayelsa State, Nigeria, using secondary data sources. The study aims to identify the effects of flooding on tourism in the state and evaluate potential solutions to minimize its impact on the sector. Data were collected from online articles, journal publications, scholarly articles, and reports. Findings reveal that flooding has significant negative effects on tourism development in Bayelsa State, such as reduced tourist arrivals and cancellations, leading to decreased revenue. The study recommends government investments in flood prevention measures, such as building drainage systems, creating embankments, and providing emergency relief. Additionally, organized tourism promotion and marketing strategies could be employed to attract tourists during favorable weather conditions, further contributing to economic growth.
