Abstract:
This article scientifically analyzes the physical and psychological criteria used in the process of selecting children for sports. The study, first of all, considers the age, anthropometric indicators, level of physical development and health status of children as the main selection criteria. It is also emphasized that psychological factors - character traits, motivation, willpower, emotional stability and ability to work in a team - play an important role in choosing a sport. The article discusses methods, diagnostic tools used in modern sports pedagogy, and ways to increase the efficiency of the selection process based on advanced foreign experience.
